taxofit® Folic Acid + Metafolin® + Vit. B6 + B12 Depot Tablets make a significant contribution to your body’s long-term supply with folates (folic acid and Metafolin®), as well as with vitamins B6 and B12.

Large portions of the population suffer from an inadequate supply of folates and vitamins B6 and B12, as it is often not possible to meet the body’s demand with our regular daily diet. This is due to the fact that much of the folate and vitamins B6 and B12 contained in foodstuffs will be lost during storage, or by incorrect processing of the foods, e.g. when they are cooked too long or warmed over the next day, etc. For instance, the amount of vitamin B6 contained in vegetables will be reduced by as much as 50 % when they are deep-frozen, and prolonged cooking often destroys 100 % of the vitamin. The human body cannot produce vitamin B6 by itself and has only limited capacities for storing it. This is why these vital nutrients have to be supplied on a regular basis with our daily food.

Who needs folic acid, and what does it do?
Folic acid and its bioactive form Metafolin® are indispensable for a healthy life. Particularly important is their function as natural “antagonists” of homocysteine.

By current standards, excessively high levels of homocysteine are considered a major risk factor for a healthy, functional heart, brain, and cardiovascular system. It is above all Metafolin® – the bioactive form of folic acid – which can keep homocysteine levels within a normal range. Therefore it is particularly important for individuals from age 50 upward to make sure they get an adequate supply.
As folic acid and Metafolin® also play an essential role in all processes of cell division in the human body, anybody wishing to maintain a healthy lifestyle should make a conscious effort to meet their demands in the best way possible. This applies in particular to individuals who use any medication on a regular basis, drink alcohol, or smoke, as well as to vegetarians, as these groups of people have an increased demand for folic acid/Metafolin. Likewise, people who like to engage in sports may also need more folic acid or Metafolin®, as these substances are required for the production of red blood cells (oxygen transport in the body) and for regeneration of body cells.

What is so special about taxofit® Folic Acid + Metafolin + Vit. B6 + B12 Depot® Tablets
Folic acid is a provitamin which first has to be “activated“ in the body before it can develop its health-promoting effects to the full. In approximately half the population of Europe, this “activation process” does not work properly. Metafolin® does not have to be activated, because Metafolin®

• is already equivalent to the bioactive form of folic acid
• can thus be utilised immediately by everybody

The use of Metafolin® is therefore approved only for certain high-quality dietary supplements, and protected by a patent.

For folic acid and Metafolin® to be properly effective, they need support from adequate amounts of vitamins B6 and B12. The body needs vitamin B6 to produce the proteins which are particularly important for the substance of cell nuclei as well as for blood formation. For maintaining and supporting its processes of growth, the body must also be supplied with vitamin B12.
