The trace mineral selenium achieves essential functions as "radical catcher" for the cell metabolism and supports the natural cell protection. It is normally supplied by food. A sufficient selenium supply to effectively support cell metabolism -the base of all life phenomena- is not always guaranteed through the diet.
Selenium is taken up from soil and stored by plants, especially cereals. The quite different and strongly fluctuating selenium content of soils causes a likewise strongly fluctuating selenium content in food items. Modern eating habits and denaturing food processing are additional reasons, why the demand for selenium is not covered anymore.
Stress, polluted air, sun radiation, cigarette smoke and other environmental influences which put the organism under strain, favour the formation of reactive oxygen compounds (so called "free radicals"). Lactose, potato starch, selenium containing yeast, hardened vegetable fat, parting agent mono- and diglycerides from edible fatty acids.
Consumption Recommendations:
1 tablet per day swallow unchewed with some fluid together with a meal.
1 tablet covers the daily selenium requirement (according to recommendations of the German Society for Nutrition).
