1. What Laxacur® is used for
Laxacur
® is used for symptomatic treatment of (chronic) constipation.
2. Before you take Laxacur®
Do not take Laxacur® if you are suffering from
- intestinal obstruction
- acute inflammatory disease of the intestine (e.g. Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
- unclear pain in the abdomen or in case of imminent intestinal perforation
- acute dilatation of the intestinal wall (toxic megacolon)
What else to keep in mind
Children and adolescents under 16 years of age
Administration of Laxacur
® has not been studied in children and adolescents under 16 years of age. Before taking Laxacur
®, you should talk to your doctor.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should talk to your doctor before taking Laxacur
®, as it has not been adequately studied in pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Taking other medicines
No interactions with other medicines are known to date.
3. How to take Laxacur®
Take Laxacur
® as described in this package leaflet. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Dosage:
1-2 times daily, dissolve the contents of 1 double sachet of Laxacur
® in a glass of water (125 mL) and drink.
In long-term therapy, the dose can be reduced.
Duration of administration:
Laxacur
® may be taken either continuously over extended periods of time or intermittently.
4. If you take more Laxacur® than you should
Please consult your doctor if you have taken more Laxacur
® than you should.
5. Possible side effects
Sensations of fullness, bloating, nausea, or diarrhoea may occasionally occur when taking Laxacur
®. These symptoms will usually resolve within 24-48 hours after you stop taking the product. Treatment may then be continued at a lower dose. There have been some rare cases of vomiting, faecal incontinence, and upper abdominal pain. Other rare side effects are headaches and dizziness. In some individual instances, allergic hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
6. How to store Laxacur®, and how long it will keep
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
The expiry date of this package is printed on the cardboard box and on the sachet. Do not use this package after this date!
