Kwai® Garlic

Active substance: garlic bulb powder
300 mg / coated tablet

Herbal drug for prevention of general arteriosclerosis.

Composition
1 coated tablet contains:
- Active pharmaceutical ingredient: garlic bulb powder 300 mg
- Excipients: lactose monohydrate, cellulose, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, castor oil, macrogol 6000, hypromellose, saccharose, talcum, gelatine, povidone K25, Carnauba wax, bleached wax, quinoline yellow E104, indigo carmine E132.

Note
Kwai® Garlic coated tablets do not interfere with sugar metabolism; they are thus safe for diabetics. One coated tablet is equivalent to 0.03 carbohydrate exchanges.

Pharmaceutical form and contents
Kwai® Garlic is available in original packs of 60 coated tablets or 180 coated tablets.

Therapeutic indications
For prevention of general arteriosclerosis.

Contraindications
Do not take Kwai® Garlic
- if you know you are allergic to garlic,
- if you are suffering from a blood coagulation disorder in terms of increased propensity for bleeding.

Special precautions with regard to pregnancy and breast-feeding
From the common and widespread use of garlic as a food, there has as yet been no evidence of risks during pregnancy and breast-feeding. It is an established fact that certain substances contained in garlic may be excreted in breast milk; there are no other results from experimental studies available.

Using 300 mg in children
No adequate studies have been conducted on using this medicine in children. It should therefore not be used for children under 12 years of age.

Taking other medicines
Other medicines that affect the effectiveness of 300 mg, or whose own effectiveness is affected by 300 mg
When antihypertensive agents are taken concurrently, their effects may be increased. The effects of anticoagulants may be increased. Please note that this information can also apply to medicines used in the recent past.
When indinavir or other protease inhibitors used in anti-HIV („AIDS“) treatment are used concurrently, their effects may be reduced.

Posology and method of administration
The following information applies unless your doctor has given you other instructions for using Kwai® Garlic. Please follow the instructions for use; otherwise Kwai® Garlic will not be fully effective!

How often to take Kwai® Garlic, and how much
Unless otherwise prescribed, please take 1 coated tablet 3 times per day.

How and when to take Kwai® Garlic
Take Kwai® Garlic in the morning, at noon, and in the evening, preferably with your meals; swallow the tablet whole with some liquid (e.g. a gulp of water).

How long to take Kwai® Garlic
There is no time limit to the duration of use. However, please observe the information given in the sections “Taking other medicines” and “Side effects”.

Incorrect use and overdose
What to do if you have taken too much Kwai® Garlic (either on purpose or accidentally)
When excessive amounts of garlic bulb powder are ingested, an increased occurrence of side effects is to be expected, in particular gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. As blood coagulation may be impaired, there may be some individual instances of bleeding. Therefore, in case of a substantial overdose of Kwai® Garlic, a doctor should be notified, who will then decide on appropriate action as required.

What to keep in mind when you miss a scheduled dose of Kwai® Garlic
Continue your treatment in accordance with your dosage instructions or your doctor's prescription. (I.e., do not take more of the coated tablets, and do not take them more often.)

What to keep in mind when you wish to interrupt or prematurely discontinue your treatment with Kwai® Garlic
Please talk to your doctor before interrupting or prematurely discontinuing treatment with Kwai® Garlic.

Side effects
What side effects can occur during treatment with Kwai® Garlic?
There have been some rare instances of gastrointestinal complaints or allergic reactions.
Please note:
- The odour of your skin and exhaled air may change while you are using Kwai® Garlic.
- Your blood pressure may decrease.
If you notice any side effects not listed in this package leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Notes and information on shelf life of the medicinal product
The expiry date of this package is printed on the cardboard box. Do not use Kwai® Garlic after that date!
